Seeking improvement never stops for La Salle

By Manila Times - a month ago

(UPDATE) THE De La Salle Green Archers claimed the first Final Four berth in the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball tournament after blowing out the Adamson Soaring Falcons, 70-45, at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion on Saturday.

That won't stop the defending champs from seeking improvement as they seek to finish strong in the elimination round which they currently lead with a 9-1 slate.

Riding a six-game win streak, La Salle should be treating each game a championship one, according to reigning MVP Kevin Quiambao, who logged 17 points, six rebounds and three assists against Adamson.

"We're very happy to clinch a Final Four spot but as coach [Topex Robinson] said, we have a lot to improve on and we're just on to our next game. We have to keep our focus one game at a time but we're happy to get this win," said Quiambao.

"Every game we should treat it as a championship game. The past few games we've been forcing things but now we executed our system well."

Up next for Quiambao and the Green Archers are their rivals Ateneo Blue Eagles who are riding a 2-game win run after taking down the UST Growling Tigers, 67-64, also on Saturday.

La Salle looks to repeat on Ateneo and boost its chances of finishing in top two of the eliminations which merits a twice-to-beat incentive in the semifinals.

"We have nothing but respect for Ateneo and coach Tab [Baldwin]," said Quiambao of the Blue Eagles who sport a 3-6 slate, good for sixth place in the standings.

"We all know that despite their standings, they play differently against La Salle so I'm excited for that."
