Olympian Hergie Bacyadan enters finals of Asian Kickboxing Championships

MANILA, Philippines — Paris Olympian Hergie Bacyadan is going for gold at the Asian Kickboxing Championships that are currently being held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

She is expected to face Teng Jinwei of China in the Women's K1 -70 kilogram division.

Bacyadan knocked out hometown bet Raksa Samnang 49 seconds into the first round of her semifinal bout, giving her a shot at gold.

She will be guaranteed a spot at next year's World Games in Chengdu, should she win gold.

Other hopefuls aiming for gold at the tournament include Jana Lavador, Jovan Medallo, Carlo von Buminaang, Gina Araos, and Honorio Banario.

According to the Samahang Kickboxing ng Pilipinas, six athletes already bronze medals at this tournament, namely Whinny Bayawon, Renalyn Dacquel, Claudine Veloso, Lance Airon Villamer, Felex Dave Cantores, and Daryl Chulipas.
