Slain rape victim's mother files charges vs husband

By Manila Times - yesterday

BACOLOD CITY — The mother of a Grade 10 student who was found dead in a sugarcane field in La Carlota City in Negros Occidental in July this year has filed a rape case against her live-in partner.

Jennifer Galve, the mother of the victim, Pearl Joy Galve, filed the case before the City Prosecutor's Office against her live-in partner identified as Rene Nacis on Wednesday.

Galve was accompanied by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

Jennifer affirmed her willingness to stand as witness against her live-in partner, along with relatives that Pearl Joy had confided with about the episodes of molestation, the NBI-Bacolod said.

The suspect had earlier admitted molesting Pearl Joy.

According to the NBI, they are waiting for the resolution from the fiscal's office and once this reaches the court and a warrant is issued, they will have Nacis arrested.

The NBI agents said they have information that the suspect has remained in Bacolod City.

Gathering of evidence is ongoing to support the murder case that NBI-Bacolod is determined to file against Nacis.

Pearl Joy, 15, was found dumped in a sugarcane field in La Carlota City. She disappeared on July 29 and was found dead on July 31.

Manuel Fayre, NBI-Bacolod chief, said the case is "a priority."

LtCol. Lymel John Pasquin, La Carlota police chief, said the NBI has coordinated with the La Carlota police station for its conduct of a parallel investigation.

Cpt. Michael Tuburan, Bacolod Police Station 9 chief, said Galve disappeared in the morning of July 29 after she left her classroom at Sum-ag National High School, saying she had a stomachache and did not return in the afternoon.

Galve was seen with a male companion at a store in Sum-ag on August 1 or 2, Tuburan said.
