Gastronomy tourism through 'Love the Flavors'

By Manila Times - 2 days ago

The Department of Tourism (DoT) recognizes the vital role that gastronomy plays in promoting the Philippine culture, and partners with fast food chain Mang Inasal in enhancing Filipino cuisine as part of the national identity.

On September 23, Mang Inasal launched its new "Love the Flavors, Love the Philippines" campaign in line with DoT's "Love the Flavors" Tourism Week.

"As we celebrate World Tourism Week, let us emphasize how food does not only serve as a culinary experience, it also serves as an avenue to connect people, promote appreciation of culture and drive economic development. With our 'Love the Philippines' campaign, which was recently awarded the title of Asia's Leading Marketing Campaign at the World Travel Awards, we are proud to showcase not only, our breathtaking landscapes, but also the richness of our food. Food — which tells the story of our history and diverse heritage," said DoT Assistant Secretary Gissele Quisumbing in her speech.

"Mang Inasal's 'Love the Flavors, Love the Philippines' campaign perfectly embodies this celebration. By promoting Filipino food, you help preserve culinary traditions, support local farmers, and ensure that our rich food culture is passed down to future generations. Together, we elevate the Philippines as a must-visit destination, where food tells the story of a nation," she added.

The launch was attended by some of the Philippines' most popular travel influencers. Among them were the Blackman Family, featuring Australian father Joshua, Filipino mother Jeraldine, and their charming children Nimo and Jette; celebrity mom from General Santos City Melai Cantiveros-Francisco with her kids Mela and Stela; Japanese content creator Fumiya Sankai; and Canadian explorer Kyle "Kulas" Jennermann of Becoming Filipino.

With their famous chicken inasal and halo-halo, the fast-food chain is proud to share the flavors of the Philippines with the world.

"For many tourists, Mang Inasal has become a must-try experience — an authentic taste of the Philippines that brings unlimited fun and meaning to their travels. Just imagine visiting the Philippines and not tasting our Chicken Inasal or indulging in our Halo-Halo — it's something you simply can't miss," Mang Inasal president Mike Castro said in his speech.

"At Mang Inasal, we are committed to delivering the best grilled food experience, and we are grateful to our customers for making us a staple in Filipino homes. As we continue to grow, we want to share that happiness with every tourist who visits our country," he continued.

While the Tourism Week Treat is only the beginning, there's plenty more to look forward to in the "Love the Flavors, Love the Philippines" campaign, so stay tuned to Mang Inasal's social media channels for all the exciting updates.
