Ambuklao, Binga dams in Benguet release water anew

Officials have opened Ambuklao and Binga dams in Benguet province to release water as they near spilling levels.

Hydrologists from the Hydrometeorology Division of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that as of 8 a.m. on Sunday, one gate of Ambuklao Dam in Bokod town was opened with an outflow of 33 centimeters.

In Itogon, one gate of Binga Dam was unlocked with an opening measured at 0.30 meters (m), Pagasa said.

Ambuklao's reservoir water level (RWL) was at 750.90 m or just -0.38 m before reaching its normal high water level (NHWL) of 752 m.

Meanwhile, Binga Dam's RWL was measured at 574.44 m. Its spilling level is 575 m.

Pagasa said that the release of water was minimal.
