FORMER senator Leila de Lima will run as a representative of a party-list affiliated with the Liberal Party (LP) in next year's elections. De Lima announced on her social media platforms Friday that she has formally accepted her nomination as the lead nominee of the Mamamayang Liberal (ML, Liberal People). Former congressmen Teddy Baguilat and Erin Tañada will be her co-nominees under the new party-list, said the former senator, who is also LP's spokesman. Baguilat and Tañada have confirmed and accepted their nomination with De Lima. "I am delighted and grateful for the trust given by the [ML] to be one of the representatives of a party-list that is true to the Filipino people," they said on their Facebook pages in Filipino. The new party-list was announced during the LP's National Executive Council (NECO) meeting on Friday. De Lima lost her reelection bid for the Senate in 2022 while she was detained in Camp Crame for drug trafficking cases. She was released last November following the dismissal of all criminal charges filed against her.
