By Manila Times - 2 months ago
Felip or Felip Jhon Suson solidified his mark in the industry with his strikingly distinct sound and style in his album "7sins." Besides having multiple roles with his globally successful P-pop band SB19 as Ken, the musician is also making waves as a soloist. Having his solo debut in 2021, Felip has successfully released multiple hits such as "Fake Faces," "Rocksta," "Kanako," "Bulan," "Palayo," and his version of "Moving Closer" garnered millions of streams across platforms. In particular, his EP, "Complex," also attracted fans from across the globe, anticipating fresh new music and performances. Consequently, fans were ecstatic upon the announcement of his album "7sins" and upcoming concerts. On the day of the album launch/concert, fans queued hours ahead donning Felip's aesthetics, predominantly in dark hues, exchanging fanmade gifts while waiting for the doors to open at the Space. With the venue freshly opened earlier this year, pristine halls and a mysterious stage production in line with the album's dark concept greeted the attendees. As soon as the countdown commenced, the attendees' excitement instantly escalated. Felip started the show with "Foes," the album's opener. Sustaining the atmosphere, the performer delivered "Envy" and immediately connected with the concertgoers, especially with the fans near the stage. After introducing his debut album and first-ever concert, Felip shared an empowering message for the next song, "Greed," which he co-wrote with Cyra Gwynth. "Don't let anyone take advantage of you; be brave; you guys are beautiful; know your worth and be strong," he said. Slowing it down, the soothing vocals of Felip filled the room, leaving the fans in wonder. Subsequently, he performed "Lust" with collaborator Cyra Gwynth, alluring the audience with their arresting duet on stage. Giving the floor to Gwynth, she delivered her original singles, "Cut the BS" and "1+1." Making an entrance once again, Felip bounced back with "Pride," amping up the energy in the hall with his stable rap flow and impressive ability to switch from English to Cebuano naturally. Playertwo joined him for their "Gluttony" performance, steadily progressing from one rap verse to another, hyping the audience. Leaving the stage to Playertwo, the hip-hop group delivered a pulsating number of "Shower Music." Fiercely returning to the scene, Felip owned the stage with a performance of "Wrath" where he expressed his passion and determination to deliver a show his fans would enjoy. Additionally, he encouraged fans to continuously support his album "7sins" and announced that physical copies are also available for purchase at the venue. To fans' delight, the singer surprised everyone with a physical-album-exclusive track, "Tokyo." Despite performing it for the first time in front of a live audience, attendees instantly vibed with the song. Afterward, he presented "Sloth" and exchanged lyrics with the concertgoers. Concluding the showcase of his debut album, Felip performed "Ache," highlighting the artist's ability to deliver an eloquently poignant interpretation. Returning for the encore, Felip showcased his dancing prowess with his hit song, "Rocksta." All his fellow performers joined him again on stage to perform the final song of the night, "Mictest." Surprisingly, fans ended the night with their version of "Kanako" to celebrate the musician's successful album concert. Ultimately, the transition from one performance to another seamlessly blended, guiding the audience to appreciate the show's storyline. Furthermore, before the fans left the hall, they took one more message from the artist. "As the lights turn off, as darkness envelopes this place, and as you travel back home, may you find the path to greater transformations. May your thoughts be wise and kind; may you resolve anything in your mind that keeps you from being your true self. Please listen to your inner voice and sing along with the melodies of your own goodness." "7sins" album merchandise such as shirts, hoodies, caps, photocards, and limited edition vinyl were available upon exit of the concert hall. He also held a fan signing event and a show on September 2 as the artist continues to promote "7sins The Album Concert" at Shibuya Duo Music Exchange, Japan.
