Ayala to shift Healthway facilities to green power

By Manila Times - yesterday
THE Ayala Group is transitioning six of its Healthway Medical Network facilities to renewable energy through a partnership between listed energy arm ACEN Corp. and the latter's retail electricity supply (RES) unit, ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES). In a disclosure, ACEN said six Healthway facilities would be powered by wind, solar and geothermal energy sources. The first facilities to make the shift are Healthway QualiMed Hospital in Santa Rosa; Healthway QualiMed in Manila; and Healthway Cancer Care Hospital in Taguig. They will be followed by Healthway QualiMed Hospital in San Jose del Monte (Bulacan), Healthway Daniel O. Mercado Medical Center in Quezon City, and FEU-NRMF Medical Center, also in Quezon City. "This partnership with ACEN RES represents a pivotal moment for AC Health. Both of our companies are dedicated to innovation through sustainable practices that help make health care more affordable and accessible for Filipinos," AC Health President and CEO Paolo Borromeo said. "By embracing renewable energy, we are not only reducing our carbon footprint but also doing our part to ensure a healthier planet for future generations," he added. By switching to RE, AC Health's facilities are projected to avoid an estimated 68,360 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions throughout the contract period, equivalent to the amount of CO2 absorbed by approximately 3.1 million trees in a year. By powering AC Health's facilities with clean energy, we are reducing their environmental impact while supporting their mission of improving health outcomes," ACEN President and CEO Eric Francia said. ACEN RES has signed similar deals with Manila-based Asian Development Bank and RCBC Plaza. ACEN Corp. shares rose 0.20 percent to close at P5.04 each on Wednesday.
