(UPDATE) FILIPINO tanker Angel Otom finished fifth in the women's 50-meter butterfly S5 final where she clocked 45.78 seconds, wrapping up her first Paris Paralympics campaign at the Paris La Defense Arena on Saturday midnight. Otom, who also finished fifth in the heats, got off to a strong start as she put herself in contention for a bronze finish but ultimately faltered in the last 30 meters of the event. Chinese Lu Dong posted a world record of 38.17 seconds for the gold medal followed by compatriot He Shenggao (38.98) and Turkish Ozturk Sevilay (43.70). The 21-year-old Otom also made the final of the 50-m backstroke event last Wednesday as she posted a sixth place finish. Cendy Asusano, the last athlete to compete in the 6-player Filipino team, tries to salvage a medal for the Philippines in the women's javelin throw F54 at 4:08 p.m. later.
