NVizcaya buko pie industry gets boost

ARITAO, Nueva Vizcaya — The Department of Science and Technology (DoST) in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) conducted a comprehensive training on Five S productivity and food safety, and current good manufacturing practices (CGMP) to help boost the buko (coconut) pie industry here. One of the training recipients was Lorenzana's Buko Pie processor, a local enterprise in this town. Engineer Jonathan Nuestro, DoST Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Science and Technology Office director, said the training on Five S methodology aims to "equip the staff and management of Lorenzana's Buko Pie with essential knowledge and skills to enhance operational efficiency, ensure food safety, and meet standards for manufacturing." In explaining the Five S methodology which means "Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain," as well as CGMP, Nuestro emphasized the importance of streamlined processes and a clean, organized workplace.
