Go sends aid to 'Enteng' victims

By Manila Times - 2 months ago
AS the typhoon season escalates, Sen. Bong Go urgently calls on the public to remain vigilant, stressing the imminent dangers of leptospirosis during the rainy months. His unwavering commitment to promptly aid communities affected by natural calamities was demonstrated on Tuesday, when his Malasakit Team, in collaboration with local officials, distributed food packs to 1,250 families in Rizal province who were severely impacted by Typhoon Enteng. As an adopted son of Calabarzon, Go is committed to help typhoon victims as his team held relief distributions at Sitio Pag-Asa Multipurpose Hall in Antipolo City, Tanay Municipal Gym, and Roman Tantiangco Memorial Elementary School in Morong. "During the rainy season and flooding, it's crucial to be mindful of our health, especially the threat of leptospirosis," Go said. "Let's not underestimate the danger it poses. Let's always be cautious and prioritize our health." Leptospirosis, a serious bacterial infection transmitted through water contaminated by animal urine, presents a major health risk during floods and heavy rainfall. Its symptoms can range from mild, flu-like conditions to severe ailments, including kidney damage and liver failure, which can be fatal if not promptly treated. As the chairman of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, Senator Go's proactive stance is crucial to strengthening the country's health care infrastructure, particularly in remote areas. His efforts aim to ensure that every Filipino, regardless of location, has access to quality health care. He continues to champion the establishment of more Super Health Centers nationwide, a vital initiative designed to provide essential health care services closer to communities, thereby alleviating the burden on major hospitals and ensuring better health care access for all. "The construction of Super Health Centers is very important," Go said. "If you have symptoms of leptospirosis or any disease, it can provide basic medical services, consultation, or early detection of diseases."
