SEN. Bong Go remains committed to improving access to government services, particularly in underserved communities.

Go manifested his long-standing advocacy for establishing super health centers (SHC) on Friday, as he participated in the turnover of a newly constructed SHC in Barangay Alegria.

There are now 14 such centers in Davao Oriental alone. These facilities are crucial in bridging the health care gap as these offer primary care, consultations and early disease detection services within local communities.

"I will continue to help increase the number of Super Health Centers in the country as much as possible. With the built Super Health Centers, we saw how much it helps the community, especially in rural areas. That's the purpose of the Super Health Centers, to bring the government's medical services closer to the people," said Go in Filipino during the turnover ceremony.

The realization of this initiative is a collaborative effort involving fellow legislators, the Department of Health (DoH), led by Secretary Teodoro Herbosa, and various local government units.

Substantial funding has been allocated to establish over 700 super health centers nationwide, demonstrating the government's commitment to improving the health care sector, particularly at the grassroots level.

These centers will offer free consultations through municipal health offices, local government units and PhilHealth via its Konsulta program.

Earlier that day, Go also took the time to inspect another SHC in Barangay Poblacion. While in Cateel, the senator also supported thousands of residents from diverse sectors, including barangay health workers, nutrition scholars, sanitary inspectors, vendors and transport workers.

During the relief activity held at the Barangay Poblacion covered court, 720 underprivileged individuals received food packs, snacks, vitamins, masks, shirts, basketballs and volleyballs from his Malasakit Team. Select beneficiaries also received bicycles, shoes, mobile phones and watches.

The assistance was distributed in partnership with Gov. Niño Uy, Cateel Mayor Emilou Nuñez and Vice Mayor Wilbur Maning Chua, Cateel Councilors Jefrey Lungay, Bjorn Sunday and Emerito Silverio, Baganga Mayor Pepot Lara, San Isidro Mayor Angel Go and Lupon Councilor Don Montojo, who also joined Go during the turnover ceremony and the relief activity.

As the chairman of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, Go highlighted the crucial role of the Malasakit Centers program, which he initiated to streamline access to government medical and financial assistance for the less fortunate.

In Davao Oriental, residents can access services at the Malasakit Center located at the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center in Mati City. Through Republic Act 11463, which Go principally authored and sponsored, eligible public hospitals now feature Malasakit Centers, significantly improving medical assistance accessibility.

According to the DoH, 166 Malasakit Centers have been established since 2018, aiding approximately 10 million Filipinos.

Other initiatives backed by Go include the construction of several roads, the development of the Davao Oriental Sports Complex, the rehabilitation of Buso Hot Spring Park and the construction of a Public Park/Eco-Tourism Park in Mati City.

Go concluded his visit by reaffirming his commitment to service: "I, your Senator Kuya Bong Go, will continue to serve you all. I believe that service to people is also service to God. And this is my passion, to serve my fellow Filipinos to the best of my ability."
