E-Sports to provide high-quality facilities

By Manila Times - 3 weeks ago

LOOKING to bolster the grassroots sports program in the Philippines, E-Sports (Everything Sports) International Inc. is dedicated to providing high-quality materials for the country to hone top-tier athletes and train at the highest level.

To celebrate its 20th anniversary of constructing sports facilities, the company unveiled the first rooftop football pitch in the Philippines, featuring a FIFA-certified artificial turf system at SM Cherry Shaw, this innovative facility provides accessible football training for athletes and recreational opportunities for football enthusiasts.

The Gawad Kalinga street kids' team had the opportunity to experience the top-notch quality of the 9-a-side field in its official launch on Friday.

"You know, we always thought that the Philippines could produce world-class athletes, not only that we have the talent, but we have the grit to be an athlete. We think that the only hindrance is there are no facilities here. If you can't train abroad, you are stuck here. That is the very core of why we are here. We want the situation to change here," Pam Romualdez, general manager of E-Sports, told The Manila Times in an interview.

"So that for those who can't train abroad, they can train here, well ... they should be training here so that we can produce more [Carlos] Yulos and Hidilyns [Diaz], right?" she added.

Responsible for building nine out of the country's 11 FIFA-certified football fields, the company also does not want to limit itself to "just football," but it is also open to all different sports to help Filipino athletes to have the convenience to train.

"We built the SEA Games here, the Philippines hosted the SEA Games already. So what do we see in the future? I want to have an Olympics here, right? Right now, we are also hosting the World Championships for basketball, we are also hosting the Volleyball Nations League here. I want to be able to do that in other sports, you know? We are called E-Sports because we are Everything Sports," Romualdez said.

"Think for a sport, and we will make sure that we will make it a world standard or international standard."

Romualdez experienced the problem before when it came to training facilities, driving her to have the mission to produce and provide top-of-the-line sports architecture and recreational solutions in the Philippines.
