(UPDATE) ALAS Pilipinas salvaged a bronze medal anew after repeating on Vietnam, 27-25, 14-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-12, at the Men's SEA V.League second leg at the UNY Sports Complex in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on Sunday night.
Alas finished with a 1-2 slate just like it did in the first leg in Manila where its lone win came at the expense of Vietnam as well.
This time, the Filipino hitters overcame the 0-3 Vietnamese without team captain and ace scorer Bryan Bagunas who suffered an injury against Indonesia in the first leg.
Michaelo Buddin and Louie Ramirez fired 24 and 19 points, respectively, to lead Alas while Jade Disquitado added 16 and Kim Malabunga chipped in 11.
Alas men thus replicated its counterpart from the women's side which also snared back-to-back bronzes.
Meanwhile, Thailand emerged champion once more after sweeping the second leg at 3-0 just like it did in the first.
Thailand clinched the championship after taking a 25-20, 26-24, 22-25, 28-26, win against Indonesia, which clinched silver again with a 2-1 record.
The standings in the second leg of the 4-team tourney was the same as the first.
