BUGATTI has introduced its latest work of art, the Bugatti Tourbillon, inspired by the legacy of founder Ettore Bugatti. This new model pushes the boundaries of beauty, performance and luxury, setting a new standard in the hyper sports car category.
The Tourbillon draws inspiration from iconic Bugatti models, such as the Type 57SC Atlantic, often hailed as the most beautiful car in the world, and the Type 35, the most successful racing car of its time. These models serve as a foundation for the Tourbillon's design, emphasizing beauty, performance, and luxury as its core principles.
Unlike its predecessors, the Tourbillon is the first Bugatti in over two decades not to use the famous W16 engine. Instead, it uses new engine and design philosophy that reflect the brand's evolution. The name Tourbillon is inspired by a complex mechanism in watchmaking, symbolizing precision, craftsmanship, and the car's connection to French heritage. The Tourbillon is "shaped by speed" with every aspect of its design focusing on aerodynamic efficiency. This includes Bugatti's signature elements such as the horseshoe grille, the Bugatti Line, the central ridge, and the dual color split.
The vehicle's aerodynamic features, such as a new diffuser concept and a submerged rear wing, balance the car's aerodynamic forces and thermodynamic needs. These innovations ensure the Tourbillon maintains stability and efficiency at speeds over 400 kph and during rapid deceleration.
The interior of the Tourbillon focuses on timelessness and craftsmanship, avoiding the rapidly outdated technology of digital screens. Instead, Bugatti emphasizes an analogue experience inspired by the world of horology. The centerpiece of the interior is an instrument cluster crafted with Swiss watchmaking expertise, made from over 600 parts of titanium and gemstones like sapphire and ruby. This cluster remains fixed as the steering wheel rotates around it, providing an unobstructed view of the instrumentation regardless of steering angle. The center console combines crystal glass and aluminum, revealing the intricate mechanisms beneath. A high-definition digital screen, hidden until needed, offers vehicle data and connectivity features.Every interior element is crafted with precision, focusing on authenticity. Bugatti ensures that materials like titanium, carbon fiber, and leather are genuine and of the highest quality. The seats are fixed to the floor for a lower center of gravity, while the pedal box is adjustable to ensure a comfortable driving position for all drivers. The Bugatti Tourbillon features a new 8.3-liter naturally aspirated V16 engine combined with electric motors, producing a total of 1,800 horsepower. This powertrain, developed in collaboration with Cosworth, marks a significant departure from the traditional W16 engine but maintains Bugatti's commitment to performance and innovation. The electric motors are powered by a 25 kilowatt-hour oil-cooled 800-volt battery, offering an electric range of over 60 kilometers (37 miles). The Tourbillon's lightweight construction and advanced aerodynamics contribute to its remarkable performance while significantly reducing emissions compared to previous models. The Tourbillon is built on a completely new chassis and body structure, utilizing next-generation T800 carbon composite materials. This construction includes various weight-saving innovations, such as integrating the battery as a structural part of the car and employing advanced 3D-printed components to reduce weight and improve performance. The suspension system uses 3D-printed aluminum components, reducing weight by 45 percent compared to the previous models. The brakes feature state-of-the-art carboceramic technology and a bespoke brake-by-wire system, ensuring maximum stopping power and safety. Specially designed Michelin Pilot Cup Sport 2 tires ensure optimal performance and handling. The Tourbillon also features a new chassis design that incorporates multi-link suspension and advanced aerodynamic elements, such as a hollow airfoil arm developed with artificial intelligence technology. This innovation enhances vehicle dynamics and aerodynamic performance, setting a new standard for hyper sports cars. The Bugatti Tourbillon is currently in the testing phase, with prototypes on the road as the company prepares for customer deliveries in 2026. Bugatti plans to produce 250 units, each priced at 3.8 million euros. The cars will be hand-assembled at the Bugatti Atelier in Molsheim. With its innovative design, advanced powertrain, and timeless elegance, the Bugatti Tourbillon is set to become a standout in the world of high-performance sports cars. It continues Bugatti's tradition of creating vehicles that captivate enthusiasts and collectors worldwide, ensuring that the brand remains a leader in automotive excellence for years to come.
