MANILA, Philippines — Import Aaron Fuller provided the game-long hustle and strength as Rain or Shine overpowers Barangay Ginebra, 73-64 for its second straight win in the first out-of-town game for the PBA Season 49 Governors' Cup on Saturday at the Candon City Coliseum in Ilocos Sur.
The returning PBA reinforcement delivered 15 points, but more importantly, flexed his muscles inside after finishing with 23 rebounds along with three assists.
The Elasto Painters also played well defensively, holding the Gin Kings to just 12 points in the final period, while scoring 22 in a big fourth quarter finish.
The win was a huge followup for Rain or Shine since opening the season with a 110-97 rout of Blackwater early this week.
Andrei Caracut added 14 while rookie Frank Lemetti also played a hand in Rain or Shine's fourth quarter explosion after knocking down three triples in that stretch en route to finishing with 13 markers.
Japeth Aguilar led Ginebra with 20 points, while resident import Justin Brownlee added 18 for the league's top crowd drawer, which played with their new recruits Stephen Holt and Isaac Go for the first time since trading veterans Christian Standhardinger and Stanley Pringle to Terrafirma in the offseason.
Holt debuted with 13 points, while Go only scored two.
Third overall rookie pick RJ Abarrientos also scored just two points in his first game in the PBA.
