British Chamber promotes dialogue on food, beverage sector

By Manila Times - 3 months ago

THE British Chamber of Commerce Philippines (BCCP) will host the 6th installment of its Trade and Connect series titled, "Redefining the F&B (food and beverage) industry: Emerging trends and market opportunities" at The Bevvy on August 28.

The event will highlight current trends, innovations, the rise of sustainability and investment opportunities within the F&B industry.

Key speakers include industry leaders such as Jollibee Foods Corp. Global Sustainability Director Elise Veloso, Don Revy Philippines Inc. President and Managing Director Jose Vega, and many more.

The British Chamber has previously hosted the F&B Virtual Trade Mission on Sept. 15, 2022, to showcase market opportunities in the Philippines for British products.

As noted by BCCP Executive Director/Trustee Chris Nelson: "I do say that the atmosphere of foreign investors has improved. I think it can continue with the reduction of further restrictions. The [United Kingdom (UK)] clearly sees 59th in terms of overall trading relations, but we see that growing and continuing to grow. We're working in our areas, particularly with the [small and medium enterprises] in terms of food and drink. And, as we've discussed on many occasions, the food exports from the UK continue to grow."

The administration has also prioritized gastronomy tourism in the National Tourism Development Plan 2023-2028, with Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco noting that, "Food remains the top driver for travelers, reflecting a deeper trend towards authentic cultural experiences and economic support for local communities."
