British cosmetics, skincare, and perfume company legacy brand The Body Shop has announced a significant upgrade to its bestselling Ginger haircare range, highlighting the efficacy of ginger in addressing common hair issues such as dandruff and thinning.

First introduced in the early 1990s, The Body Shop's Ginger Shampoo has grown to be the brand's top-selling haircare product, with one bottle sold every nine seconds worldwide. This popularity is attributed to its ability to address key hair concerns that can impact self-esteem.

The upgraded Ginger range, now featuring a dermatologically tested formula, continues to leverage the purifying properties of ginger essential oil. The formula also includes birch bark extract, known for its antioxidant and anti-dandruff effects, and white willow bark extract, which offers soothing and antioxidant benefits. These ingredients work together to tackle dandruff and promote thicker, fuller-looking hair, making the range suitable for sensitive scalps.

The revamped product lineup includes the Ginger Shampoo, Ginger Conditioner, and Ginger Scalp Serum, creating a comprehensive three-step system designed to improve scalp health and reduce flakiness.

As outlined by Bruno Oliveira, the specialist responsible for creating the formula, "Learning how to take care of your scalp by applying the correct serums, oils and in some cases, conditioners too, will improve its health and growth."

Oliveira also dispels common myths about hair care. For instance, he challenges the belief that hair loss is entirely hereditary, explaining that while there is no overnight cure, maintaining a clean scalp is crucial to preventing hair loss. "If the hair follicles get clogged, it can stop your hair from coming to the surface," Oliveira notes.

He also advises against neglecting the scalp in favor of focusing solely on hair ends. "A healthy scalp determines the health of your hair and will directly affect hair growth," Oliveira explains. He emphasizes that scalp build-up, which can occur from natural oils, skin cells, hair products, and environmental pollutants, can impede hair growth. Regular use of a deep cleansing shampoo, like the Ginger Shampoo, can help break down this build-up and pave the way for healthier hair.

The all-new formula in the Ginger range features The Body Shop's highest-quality ginger, sourced from remote areas of Madagascar through a partnership with Fairoils, a company committed to supporting farmers and biodiversity conservation. This partnership is part of The Body Shop's Community Fair Trade program, which emphasizes ethical sourcing.

In addition to its improved formula, the Ginger range also boasts an environmental commitment. The bottles are made from 100 percent recycled plastic collected by waste pickers in India, who have recycled approximately 100 million bottles since 2015. This initiative underscores brand's dedication to sustainability and social responsibility, further enhancing the appeal of the Ginger haircare range.
