MANILA, Philippines — Marina Tushova is back in her usual form after leading Capital1 with 35 points in its victory over Galeries, 25-13, 26-28, 25-22, 25-21, in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024 Reinforced Conference at the FilOil EcoOil Centre on Tuesday.
Tushova's 35-point outing was built on 31 attacks, three aces, and a block, along with 19 excellent receptions.
Capital1 bolstered its quarterfinals bid after taking a 5-3 win-loss card, while Galeries ended the conference winless (0-8).
After suffering from a defeat over Farm Fresh, the Solar Spikers learned from its mistakes as they did not only rely on Tushova's offense.
Des Clemente and Jorelle Singh hit the double-digit mark after scoring 14 and 10 points, respectively.
"I am very proud of our team since we all work together to get into the quarterfinals. The locals stepped up and I am very proud," team captain Singh told the press.
Leila Cruz made nine points, and tallied 15 excellent digs, while Iris Tolenada made 24 excellent sets.
Galeries was led by Chuewulim Sutadta, who scored 22 points, while rookie Jewel Encarnacion made her best performance in the league after putting in 19.
Capital1 will now focus on its next mission as it will face tougher teams in the quarterfinals.
Solar Spikers' opponent will be determined after the last round of the preliminaries on Aug. 22.
