By Manila Times - a month ago

IN his ongoing mission to improve the lives of marginalized Filipinos, Sen. Bong Go extended vital assistance to 1,500 residents of Estancia, Iloilo, on Thursday.

The recipients included tricycle drivers, persons with disability, solo parents, farmers, senior citizens and those in need of medical aid. In partnership with Estancia Mayor Chic Mosqueda, the recipients received essential financial support from the local government.

During the event, the senator acknowledged the crucial role that local leaders play in ensuring that government services reach the people who need them the most.

The relief activity was held at Northern State Iloilo State University.

The beneficiaries also received additional aid such as grocery packs, meals, vitamins, masks, and shirts from the senator. There were also select recipients of basketballs, volleyballs, bicycles, shoes, mobile phones and a watch.

As vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Go also supported some initiatives in Estancia, such as the rehabilitation of a municipal hall and the completion of the town's public market, which he also visited during the day and provided support to displaced vendors there.

As chairman of the Senate Health Committee, Go encouraged the residents to visit any of the four Malasakit Centers in the province such as the Western Visayas Medical Center and West Visayas State University Medical Center in Iloilo City; Don Jose D. Monfort Medical Center Extension Hospital in Barotac Nuevo; and Western Visayas Sanitarium and General Hospital in Sta. Barbara if they need assistance with their health-related expenses.
