MANILA, Philippines — Police operatives from the anti-illegal drugs group arrested a foreigner who yielded over P35 million worth of suspected shabu at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) 3 in Pasay City.
The Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) reported that the foreigner, who was identified only as an African, was caught in a controlled delivery operation at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Seized from the suspect was a transparent plastic sachet weighing about 5,265 grams of suspected shabu worth P35,802,000.
An initial investigation revealed that the suspect came from Africa, passing Dubai before finally entering into the country.
Other seized items from the suspect were brought to Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) for proper documentation and disposition.
PNP-DEG Director Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta said, "I would like to recognize the key effort of all operating agencies, mostly the NAIA-Interagency Drug Interdiction Task Group who led the success of this operation."
"The working relationship of all operating agencies is essential to the fulfilment of the anti-illegal drugs campaign of our government," Matta added.
