TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte — A barangay chairman is readying criminal charges against a former security guard for mauling her over the distribution of aid on Tuesday, August 6, in Barangay 43-A Quarry District in this city.
Evelyn Magalona, barangay captain of Barangay 43-A Quarry District, said she will file criminal charges before the Tacloban City Prosecutor's Office of the Department of Justice against Roncales Romano, 36, a resident of the same barangay.
Magalona said she sustained injuries on her head and body after the suspect mauled her on Aug. 6, 2024.
Magalona has been released after being confined at the Divine Word University Hospital for four days.
She said the suspect hit her on the head using a helmet and punched her on the body while she was outside her store.
Magalona said the suspect also uttered invectives in connection with the listing of the AKAP aid distribution under the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
She clarified that the suspect was in the list of the aid program which is still under process.
The suspect has gone into hiding.
