By Manila Times - 4 months ago

THE Zamboanga Valientes called up former NBA Star DeMarcus Cousins as their import in the final leg of The Asian Tournament.

The four-time NBA All-Star joined the training of the Valientes on Saturday at the Activate Hoop Center in Mandaluyong.

Cousins, who is also playing with the Taiwan Mustangs, looks forward to bringing his experience and talent to the Philippines.

"Everyone is talented, and everyone is serious about winning, It's a good move, and I am excited to be here. I can't wait to get on the floor and play with the guys," Cousins told the press after the training.

This is the first time that Zamboanga Valientes book a ticket in the leg finals of the Asian Tournament after defeating the Vantablack Dragons last June 21.

Looking to secure the championship in the tournament, Zamboanga signed the six-foot-10 import, coming to finals appearance.

Zamboanga Valientes initially wanted to sign Dwight Howard, but after a series of negotiations, the team settled for Cousins.

The last time that Cousins played in the NBA was in 2022 with the Denver Nuggets.
