Terrafirma signs Hanapi, Hernandez

By Manila Times - 4 months ago

TERRAFIRMA has signed rookies Didat Hanapi and Paolo Hernandez to separate one-year contracts on Thursday.

Player agent Edgar Mangahas, who represents both incoming PBA freshmen, posted two photos on his Instagram account, with Terrafirma team manager Ronald Tubid to announce the deal.

Hanapi and Hernandez were selected 17th and 22nd overall by Barangay Ginebra during the PBA Rookie Draft last July. The two rookies, however, were traded to the Dyip days later.

Terrafirma coach John Cardel is confident the two youngsters are capable of contributing to the Dyip's playoff hopes when the PBA Season 49 kicks off with the Governors' Cup on August 18.

"Hernandez is a steady point guard, while Hanapi is also a good addition to the team," Cardel said in Filipino.

Hernandez and Hanapi recently played in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League for the Manila Stars and the San Juan Knights, respectively.

The Dyip, who reached the Philippine Cup playoffs last season, are aiming for a better finish in the Governors' Cup after acquiring veterans Christian Standhardinger and Stanley Pringle in a trade with the Gin Kings last July.

The two former Ginebra superstars are expected to provide the needed stability and leadership for Terrafirma that has yet to reach the final four since joining the league in 2015.
