ARTISTIC gymnast Carlos Yulo and boxer Carlo Paalam continue the Philippines' quest for medals in the Paris Olympics today, August 3.
Yulo seeks a podium finish in the floor exercise final at 9:30 p.m. at the Bercy Arena, while Paalam tries to barge into the medal round in the 57 kg division as he faces Australian Charlie Senior in the quarterfinals at the North Paris Arena at 9:46 p.m.
A win by Paalam, a silver medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, would guarantee him at least a bronze as a semifinalist.
The 24-year-old Yulo is coming off a 12th-place finish in the all-around final, where he amassed 83.032 points, including his floor exercise score of 14.333, which was seventh best on August 1.
The 12th place was a big jump from Tokyo, where he didn't make it to the medal round after suffering a fall during the floor exercise qualification.
Yulo, the 2019 world champion in floor exercise, looks to bounce back by snagging a medal this time around.
During the qualification on July 28, Yulo ranked second (14.766) to British Jake Garman (14.966) who wound up seventh at floor exercise in the all-around final.
Israeli Artem Dolgapyat, who finished seventh in floor exercise qualification with 14.466 points, is still a favorite to defend his title.

Paalam, who earned a bye in the round of 32, opened his medal bid with a unanimous decision win over Irish Jude Gallagher in the round of 16 on August 31.
