PARIS — Inspite of the never ending rain, the show must go on after 4 long years, and what an Olympic opening. Rains do bring forth blessings as they say, and it turned out to be one of the best in history. By the river Seine.

First in the annals of the Olympics, small and big boats were used to parade the athletes, with the ending in the beautiful Eiffel Tower.

And just when everyone thought the legendary Celine Dion was going down with cancer or whatever sickness in the last few years, she ended the extravaganza with a soul rendering French original song that lighted the whole world watching.

Swan song indeed for the beautiful lady, although this was not the first time she sang in an Olympic opening ceremony. Heard her too in the Atlanta Olympics opening too.

Another brilliant segment was reminding the universe the legendary champions of the past that made the games unforgettable by allowing former greats Rafa Nadal, Serena Williams, Nadia Comaneci, Carl Lewis, and the great Zidane to help carry the Olympic torch with the flying horse in the water before the beautiful lighting of the flying flame in the sky for the whole duration of the Games. And not only the local heroes of host France.

This was one time dancing in the rain was really fun in the Seine. Dancing in the water with the best ballet, modern dances, and songs the French artists could offer while the boats go by will always make the Paris games unforgettable.

I wonder what the next USA Los Angeles 2028 Olympic organizers will do now to even just match this spectacle. Hard act to follow for the Americans.

As some people have been asking me, our fighting Pinoys will have better chances in boxing, athletics with EJ Obiena, gymnastics with Caloy Yulo, and weightlifting which actually starts on Aug 5 yet.

Seems like we really have a smaller group here than other countries in Asia, like Japan, Korea, and the Arab countries. Time to go back to the drawing board again. And again.
