Work in government, classes in all levels canceled in Pangasinan

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan : Work in government offices and classes in all levels in Pangasinan province on Thursday, July 25, has been suspended because of the monsoon rains spawned by Typhoon Carina.Gov. Ramon Guico III issued the order at 6 p.m. on July 24, after Typhoon Carina intensified into a super typhoon as it left the country for Taiwan.At 5 p.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) raised an orange rainfall warning over Pangasinan.This means the province may experience severe rains, flooding, and landslides.Because of this, the Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) has been closely monitoring the situation in the different towns and cities of the province.At present, rescue teams, boats, and trucks are ready in the event of a preemptive evacuation.The Alaminos City government also suspended trips to the Hundred Islands National Park due to the unfavorable weather condition.The Bolinao Tourism Office in Bolinao town also prohibited swimming activities at Bolinao Falls to ensure the safety of all visitors.As of 11 a.m. on Wednesday the Pangasinan-Nueva Vizcaya Road, more popularly known as Villaverde Trail was closed due to landslides.
