Program for prosecutors, law enforcers launched

By Manila Times - 2 months ago

AROUND 120 personnel of the Philippine National Police and Philippine Coast Guard have participated in the inaugural Training and Education Program for Law Enforcement Officers by the Department of Justice (DoJ) from July 17 to 19.

The DoJ said the program aims to strengthen the partnership between prosecutors and law enforcers to achieve a higher rate of conviction in cases filed before the courts.

It would institutionalize the pro-active involvement of prosecutors in case build-up, particularly during the case build-up stage, where they may require, assist, or otherwise cooperate with the complainants and/or law enforcement agencies.

"Prosecution and Law Enforcement are the bedrock of our justice system, hence, we should solidify this partnership to our advantage in upholding the rule of law," according to Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla.

The training program will host different batches every Wednesday to Friday of each week from July to November.

"I am confident that through collaboration, knowledge sharing and strategic planning, we will pave the way for a stronger and more effective delivery of justice in our country," Justice Assistant Secretary Eliseo Cruz said.
