NDRRMC: 7 dead in Mindanao floods

MANILA, Philippines — Seven people died from the flooding in Mindanao causedby thunderstorms and the intertropical convergence zone, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.

According to the NDRRMC report issued Wednesday afternoon, Zamboanga peninsula has four deaths, one each in Northern Mindanao, Davao Peninsula and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Some 482,464 individuals or 99,186 families from 378 villages in Regions 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula), 10 (Northern Mindanao), 11 (Davao), 12 (SOCCSKSARGEN) and BARMM were affected by the floods. SOCCSKSARGEN stands for SARSouth Cotabato-Cotabato-Sultan Kudarat-Sarangani-General Santos.

A total of 111 houses amounting to P2,116,000 was damaged. Of the number, 65 were partially and 46 totally destroyed

The damage to agriculture is at P17,879,687. Infrastructure is estimated at P700,000.

Some 4,258 families requiring assistance were given amounting to P13,530,224.
