USM produces 2,564 graduates, 604 with Latin honors

THE University of Southern Mindanao (USM) produced 2,564 graduates for the Academic Year 2023-2024 and 604 of them graduated with Latin honors

As informed by USM President Francisco Gil Garcia, the graduates received their respective diplomas during the 78th Commencement Exercises held at the USM Auditorium in Kabacan, Cotabato on June 28, 2024, with Mindanao Development Authority Chairman Leo Tereso Magno as guest of honor and speaker.

The 604 graduates with Latin honors comprised 53 magna cum laude, 521 cum laude, seven with high honors and 23 with honors.

Ann Julie Febreo, a magna cum laude graduate with a general weighted average (GWA) of 1.337, a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness of the College of Business, Development Economics and Management (CBDEM), is this year's batch valedictorian.

Accordingly, the College of Education produced the most graduates with Latin honors of 154, followed by the College of Arts and Social Sciences with 98; College of Business, Development, Economics and Management with 93; College of Human Ecology and Food Sciences with 72; College of Agriculture with 61; Institute of Sports Physical Education and Recreation with 50; College of Science and Mathematics with 37; College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences with 23; Institute of Middle East and Asian Studies with 9; College of Engineering and Information Technology with 4; College of Trade and Industries with 2; and College of Veterinary Medicine with 1.

Meanwhile, the College of Education had the most number of magna cum laude and cum laude graduates with 16 and 138, respectively.

Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Region 12 Director Akmad Usman graced the event and announced that DBM is ready to award cash incentives to USM graduates with Latin honors.
