Cray says 2025 could be his last SEA Games

By Manila Times - 5 months ago

(UPDATE) FILIPINO American hurdler Eric Cray hinted that next year's Southeast Asian Games could be his last international tournament, after he failed to punch a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Cray made the announcement on his Instagram platform on Wednesday.

"What can I say? I tried my best to qualify for the Olympics. It just wasn't meant for me. I'm happy to have made one Olympics in my career. Time for the End Game 2025," he wrote.

Cray also thanked his mother and the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association for their support.

He won the 400m hurdles gold at the Asian Athletics Championship in 2017, aside from bagging eight gold medals in the Southeast Asian Games.

On Thursday, former Olympian Marestella Torres said she is proud of Cray in the comment section of his post.

The Philippines' Olympic team for athletics consists of pole vaulter Ernest John "EJ" Obiena and hurdlers Lauren Hoffman and John Cabang Tolentino.
