THE Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Saturday reported that a magnitude-5.1 earthquake struck near Gigmoto, Catanduanes.
Earlier recorded as a 5.5 magnitude, the Phivolcs said the earthquake struck the area at 8:41 a.m. on Saturday.
The earthquake is tectonic in origin, with a 59-kilometer depth of focus.
Aftershocks were expected, but no damage was reported.
As of their latest bulletin, only intensity 1 was felt in Tabaco, Albay.
