MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 5.1 earthquake hit Catanduanes on Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The tremor, which struck Gigmoto at 8:41 a.m., was recorded earlier at magnitude 5.5.
The earthquake, tectonic in origin, had a 59-kilometer depth of focus.
Aftershocks are expected, but no damage has been reported.
Intensity 1 was felt in Tabaco, Albay.
