USA sinks Germany, takes second straight win in VNL

MANILA, Philippines — The United States of America (USA) took down Germany, 25-23, 21-25, 26-24, 25-23, to claim its second straight win in the Men's Volleyball Nations League (VNL) Manila leg at the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday.

Matthew Anderson racked up 23 points while TJ Defalco aided him with 20 markers as the 11th seed Americans improved to 5-6, keeping its quarterfinals bid alive.

Micah Christenson tossed 29 excellent sets for USA which faces another crowd favorite Japan to wrap its Manila leg campaign on Sunday.

György Grozer logged 16 points for the Germans who dropped to 4-7 as they try to keep their flickering quarterfinals chances by trying to defeat Iran on Sunday.
