SEN. Imee Marcos said the Philippines should ask for China's help in dismantling Chinese syndicates in the country, including those running illegal Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs).

"It is clear that they are here and involved in transnational crime. We can't do it alone," Marcos said in Filipino in a radio interview Sunday.

China bans gambling, but POGOs cater to bettors from mainland China.

The senator said China could help the Philippines crackdown on illegal Chinese-run gaming hubs, most of which were reportedly involved in "love scams," human trafficking and kidnapping, among other crimes.

"China, in fact, could help. We need to ask for China's assistance. They (Chinese officials) are familiar with the list of [Chinese] criminals, syndicates," Marcos said.

"Even Interpol can help. We must seek help from this transnational crime expert," she said.

Sen. Risa Hontiveros has claimed that POGOs were fronts for cryptocurrency scam hubs.

Hontiveros resumed on May 30 the Senate investigation of criminal activities involving foreign nationals, including human trafficking and racketeering.

She presented videos and reports of recent raids made by law enforcement agencies on commercial and residential properties in Clark, Pampanga.
