US-based PH educators receive excellence awards

TWO US-based Filipino educators, Eleuterio Timbol and Lady Aileen Ambion-Orsal, received the Excellence Award in the Teaching Profession from the United Federation of Fil-Am Educators Inc. (Uniffied) during the organization's anniversary celebration held in Newark, New Jersey on May 25, 2024.

Both awardees are alumni of Cavite State University (CvSU) with the latter also a mentor at CvSU.

They have been recognized for their remarkable impact in uplifting the teaching profession.

A PhD in Educational Management alumnus of CvSU and a high school teacher based in New York City, Timbol has been awarded earlier with the 2024 Sloan Award for Excellence in Teaching Science and Mathematics, and the 2022 Governor's Empire State Excellence in Teaching Award for his exemplary teaching and dedication to helping students in fields related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Ambion-Orsal, a communication studies scholar and cultural advocate, is the first Filipino language preceptor at Harvard University. She graduated summa cum laude with BA Mass Communication degree major in Journalism from CvSU, and recently completed MA in Communication Studies from Northern Illinois University. Before her teaching stint in the US, Ambion-Orsal served as a faculty member of the Department of Languages and Mass Communication of CvSU College of Arts and Sciences, and as Director of the Public Affairs and Communications Office.

Uniffied is a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)-registered non-profit organization in the US and in the Philippines and an organization of educators sharing the vision of dedicating their skills in promoting excellence in teaching and providing community service through projects that will benefit their community.
