Unboxing the latest innovation in wellness

By Manila Times - 6 months ago

The wellness technology landscape continues to evolve and the Philippines is keeping pace with these advancements, thanks to mWell — the country's first fully integrated digital health platform.

Almost three years since its first launch in 2021, the platform introduces new products and services namely, mWell Mind Health Score, mWell Ring, and mWell Watch.

The grand launch brought together a diverse assembly of industry leaders from both private and public sectors, spanning entertainment, sports, lifestyle, and business.

"Since we started our foray in healthcare business in 2007, we are now on our 24th hospital but that's really a drop in the bucket. It's not enough to be able to adequately cover the healthcare requirements of our people. That's why we have to deploy technology in order enlarge the reach of our hospital services and also to provide more employment to our doctors and nurses," said Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC) chairman Manuel Pangilinan at the launch.

"mWell launched two years ago to be able to cover as many people as we can especially in the rural areas. There is still much to be done, both in traditional hospital services and in using technology to expand the reach of health services throughout our country," he added.

"People's health determine the country's economic progress. We think that health is a basic right for all — equal to clothing, shelter and food — because health enables all of those things to be enjoyed. As the only all-in one health and wellness app, we provide a complete healthcare for virtually everybody," added Chaye Cabal Revilla, MPIC's Executive Vice President and Chief Finance, Risk and Sustainability Officer, and president and Chief Executive Officer of mWell.

The upgraded mWell Watch is a powerhouse of health features. It's equipped with over 100 exercise modes, a step counter, blood pressure tracking, and blood oxygen monitoring, making it an ideal tool for anyone looking to stay on top of their physical health.

Adding to the suite of mWell's health innovations is the mWell Ring, a pioneering device crafted from Titanium and equipped with medical-grade sensors. This sleek ring is specifically designed to track sleep and monitor critical health metrics such as heart rate, heart rate variability, resting heart rate and average oxygen saturation. It is perfect for individuals who want to gain deeper insights into their health.

Complementing the physical health focus of the mWell watch and ring is the Mind Health Score. This tool serves as a personal compass for a self-guided journey towards enhancing emotional, social and cognitive well-being. Accessible for free via the mWell app, the Mind Health Score empowers users to take charge of their mental health, offering personalized insights and recommendations.

The launch event was brought to life by OPM artists such as Jona, Klarisse, Aicelle Santos and Bituin Escalante. Their powerful performances celebrated mWell's milestones. Meanwhile, Mark Bautista and Jed Madela's production highlighted the company's advocacy of bringing healthcare even in off grid areas.

A special tribute was paid to the indigenous people (IP) community from Quezon, who often undertake a three-hour walk before being able to take a vehicle to Manila, and the little people community in Laguna, reflecting mWell's inclusive approach to healthcare.

Finally, Regine Velasquez, who first wore the mWell Ring during her "Regine Rocks the Repeat Soul Out" concert, delivered a heartfelt rendition of "A Million Dreams." Her performance not only showcased her journey as a mother and world-class performer but also highlighted how the mWell Ring helps her achieve her personal and professional goals.

The event was graced by top executives from MPIC, PLDT, and Smart, alongside prominent society figures and online personalities such as Ogie Alcasid, Martin Nievera, Alice Eduardo, Vicky Belo and Hayden Kho, Donnie Tantoco, Department of Justice Undersecretary Margarita Gutierrez, Department of Migrant Workers Undersecretary Anthonette Velasco, and Department of Information and Communications Technology Assistant Secretary Tess Camba, among many others.

With mWell, individuals are empowered to take control of their physical and mental health like never before.
