Bong Go provides support to local businesses

By Manila Times - 6 months ago

SEN. Bong Go graced the blessing and inauguration ceremonies of two prominent local projects during his visit to Guagua, Pampanga, on Thursday, May 16.

Former president and Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo hosted the activities in her district. They were also joined by Sen. Ronald de la Rosa, former representative Mikey Arroyo, Gov. Delta Pineda, Mayor Anton Torres, Vice Mayor Jun Lim, town councilors and barangay officials.

The first event was the inauguration of the new Guagua Public Market building, a project funded by the local government unit.

This modern structure, designed to accommodate around 250 more vendors, is set to revolutionize local commerce. It provides vendors a safer, more organized environment, enhancing their ability to conduct business effectively.

Go cited the importance of supporting local businesses.

"It is important to provide sufficient support to our local entrepreneurs. In this new market, we are giving our vendors a better place and allowing them to prosper even more," he said.

The second highlight of the day was the opening of the New Guagua Community College Building and Student Center, funded by the national government through Go's support as vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance.

The new facilities are expected to benefit the 1,200 bona fide students present during the inauguration, providing them with modern educational spaces conducive to learning.

"Education is the key to a better future. Having new buildings and facilities for our students in Guagua is a significant step toward shaping the leaders and changemakers of our town," Go said.

Beyond these projects, Go has also supported a range of infrastructure improvements throughout Guagua.

This includes the enhancement of local roadways in Barangay Pulungmasle, which will facilitate better transport connections within the municipality, reduce travel times and improve access to markets, health care and education.

The construction of multiple multipurpose buildings in various barangay will also provide versatile spaces for community events, disaster relief operations and cultural activities.

In terms of health care, the senator has championed significant upgrades to the Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Hospital, including new construction and equipment provision. These improvements are critical in a region where access to high-quality medical care can define community well-being.

Throughout Pampanga, Go also supported the funding of new equipment for hospitals in San Fernando City and the towns of Arayat, Bacolor, Floridablanca, Guagua, Lubao, Mabalacat, Porac and San Luis.

He also supported the construction of multipurpose buildings in Arayat, Floridablanca, Santa Monica, Magalang and Masantol. He was also instrumental in constructing a slope protection project along the Sapangbato River in Barangay Margot in Angeles City.
