Calauan starts 6-day Pineapple Festival

CALAUAN, Laguna – Thousands of Calaueños joined the civic parade highlighting the opening of Calauan's Pinya Festival 2024 on Friday, May 10.

Laguna Gov. Ramil Hernandez, Rep. Ruth Hernandez and Calauan Mayor Rosseller Caratihan made their presence felt as they led the peeling and eating of pineapple, which is the town's prime agriculture product. They were joined by Vice Mayor Allan Sanchez and Councilor Charles Caratihan.

Vice Gov. Karen Agapay, 2nd District Board Member JM Carait, Julius Leaño of the Department of Science and Technology, chef Jen Ariola and chef Boy Logro also attended the event which marked the start of a six-day festivity.

The bands Mayonnaise and Siakol are set to perform on the last day of the celebration at the town hall covered court on May 15, in conjunction with the celebration of the Patron Saint of San Isidro Labrador.

The trade fair was also opened on the first day with the theme "Makisaya, Sumama't Makiisa sa Pista ng Pinya."

The Palarong Pinoy, Gawad Parangal sa Natatanging Calaueños, Fun Run, and Grand Float Parade and Street Dancing are set on Sunday, May 12.
