Grandfather, 70, finishes senior high school

APARRI, Cagayan — Perseverance and dedication helped Hilario Jabines finish Senior High School at the age of 70.

Jabines, is a student of the Aparri East National High School. He took his lessons under the Alternative Learning System or ALS program.

Jabines said he stopped schooling due to economic difficulties. Although he had no degree, he was able to send all of his five children to college.

Now a grandfather, Jabines hopes that he too, can finish college.

He said he does not mind the teasing he gets from some people, as long as he has his family's support in his endeavor.

Jabines will graduate on May 30.
