PH pugs earn 4 bronzes in Asian Youth

(UPDATE) FOUR Filipino boxers earned bronze medals at the Asian Boxing Confederation (ASBC) Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan.

It started on Monday, when Robert Malunoc Jr. gave the country its first bronze medal in the men's youth 48 kilogram division, after bowing to Tajikistan's Muinkhodzha Muminov in his semifinal bout.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, in the men's under-22 48 kg division, Jay Bryan Baricuatro received a bronze medal, after losing to eventual champion Vishvanath Suresh in the semifinals.

At the men's U22 63.5 kg division, Mark Anthony Fajardo secured his bronze medal, after he was eliminated from the semifinals by Kazakhstan's Yerasyl Tankay.

Despite receiving a bye in the first round of the tournament, Flint Jara got the country's fourth bronze, after he lost in the semifinals to Mongolia's Enkhsaikhan Oyun-Erdene.

The ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships were held from April 27 until May 7.
