VICE President and Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio recognized the contributions of the Vivant group to DepEd's Matatag Agenda during the agency's Partners' Appreciation and Recognition Night recently.
Member companies of the Vivant group, namely Vivant Energy Corp., 1590 EC and Calamian Islands Power Corp. as well as partially controlled Visayan Electric Co. have been implementing programs and projects focused on uplifting the quality of public education in the companies' partner communities through their corporate social responsibility arm, Vivant Foundation (VFI).
Since its establishment in 2014, the Vivant group, through VFI, has constructed science laboratories; donated laboratory tools and equipment; built school buildings, classrooms and handwashing facilities; provided support for distance learning; provided science, technology, engineering, and math or STEM scholarships; supported the Central Visayas Regional Science and Technology Fair; upgraded the Electrical Installation and Maintenance track offering of public senior high schools; and supplied electricity through solar power in schools located in off-grid areas.
