By Manila Times - 7 months ago

MANILA, Philippines: The city of Tuguegarao will again have a red-hot day with a maximum air temperature of 39 degrees Celsius followed by Metro Manila at 37 degrees Celsius, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Tuesday.

High heat indexes are expected in many areas in the country including Cagayan which may sizzle at 49 degrees Celsius until Wednesday, it added.

Meanwhile, cloud formations brought by the inter-tropical convergence zone (ITCZ) were spotted in southern Mindanao while another weather system – the easterlies – is affecting the rest of the country.

The ITCZ will bring partly cloudy to overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Davao Region, Surigao del Sur, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-tawi, weather specialist Rhea Torres of said.

She said fair weather will prevail in most parts of the country in the next 24 hours but isolated downpours are likely especially in the late afternoon or at night.

Pagasa reiterated its reminder to the public to limit time spent outdoors and drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration.
