SAN ISIDRO, Nueva Ecija: Sen. Bong Revilla led the distribution of cash aid to residents in San Jose City and San Isidro town in Nueva Ecija on Thursday, April 11.
Around 1,750 beneficiaries received P2,000 each under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in San Jose City.
Revilla was accompanied by San Jose City Mayor Mario Salvador and Vice Mayor Ali Salvador during the distribution.
On the same day, the senator went to San Isidro to spearhead the AICS distribution to 1,711 beneficiaries.
He was joined by Rep. Emerson Pascual, Mayor Florentino Tinio, Vice Mayor John Carlo Patiag and Liga ng mga Barangay president Rodolfo Velasco Jr.
Pascual, meanwhile, thanked the senator for "not forgetting the province even without calamities."
"Senator Bong Revilla has always been here, offering his assistance to every Novo Ecijano," Pascual said.
In his speech, Revilla mentioned his proposed bill that seeks to lower the qualifying age to be legally considered as a senior citizen in the country, from 60 years old down to 56.
This would allow an earlier access to senior citizen benefits such as the 20 percent discount privilege and the optional retirement, he said.
Revilla was also elated that he made the top list of preferred senatorial candidates for the 2025 midterm elections as released by Pulse Asia Research Inc. last week.
