ILOILO CITY: The Police Regional Office Region 6 (PRO-6) has confiscated P45 million worth of illegal drugs in March behind an intensified campaign.
Police authorities seized a total of 6,709 grams of shabu and 42 grams of marijuana in 194 anti-illegal drug operations carried the whole March that also resulted in the arrest of 242 drug suspects.
Police apprehended 94 individuals in Negros Occidental, 42 in Iloilo province, 39 in Iloilo City and 31 in Bacolod City.
The Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU-6) collared 14 individuals, Capiz with eight, Antique and Guimaras with four apprehensions each.
The RPDEU-6 has the highest confiscation of shabu with at least 3,374 grams, followed by the Iloilo City Police Office with 1,369 grams and Iloilo Provincial Police Office with 651 grams.
Negros Occidental seized 27 grams of marijuana; Capiz, 10 grams; and Aklan, 5 grams.
Meanwhile, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas has expressed his commitment to continue supporting the anti-criminality operations of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
"My priorities for the PNP are, among others: SWAT equipment like bulletproof vests, firearms, bullets for training, bulletproof helmets and bulletproof vans," he said in a statement on April 9.
Treñas added that he will also increase budget allocations for the fuel and gasoline of the city police.
