Gin Kings seek bounce back win

By Manila Times - 7 months ago

BARANGAY Ginebra tries to get back on the winning track when it faces Terrafirma in the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup on Sunday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The Gin Kings and the Dyip collide at 6:15 p.m.

The 3 p.m. match features Meralco (3-3) and sister team TNT (2-3).

Tim Cone's charges (3-2) are itching to get back on the winning wagon following last Friday's 92-95 loss to rampaging San Miguel Beer.

Cone has been relying heavily on his battle-scarred veterans led by Christian Standhardinger, Japeth Aguilar and Jamie Malonzo, along with guards Stanley Pringle, Maverick Ahanmisi and LA Tenorio.

The absence of ace playmaker Scottie Thompson, however, is clearly felt as the Season 46 Most Valuable Player is still out due to a bad back.

The Dyip are also out for redemption since dropping a narrow 85-82 loss to the Bolts.

Terrafirma is not a pushover, with Juami Tiongson, top rookie pick Stephen Holt and Javi Gomez de Liano taking the lead.

Meanwhile, Meralco will be shooting for its third straight win and fourth overall in seven games against slumping TNT.

The Tropang Giga dropped to 2-3 after absorbing a 112-96 beating at the hands of the streaking NorthPort Batang Pier.
