Globe claims to again lead PH mobile market

By Manila Times - 8 months ago

GLOBE Telecom Inc. said that it remained the country's leading telecommunications firm last year by having captured a mobile revenue market share (RMS) of 54.7 percent.

The indicator, the telco said, reflects actual consumer spending and accounts for all mobile revenue streams: voice, SMS, and mobile data services.

Globe said that its RMS had ranged from 51.8 percent in the fourth quarter of 2016 to 54.9 percent by the third quarter of 2023, with the level peaking at 56.8 percent in the first quarter of 2019.

Mobile revenues were said to have hit a record P112.4 billion in 2023, up 5 percent from the previous year, driven by data-centric and value-packed offerings.

"Staying number one in mobile RMS is always a tough challenge in a highly competitive market like the Philippines, but Globe has maintained its edge through superior network performance, digital innovation, and customer focus," Globe Vice President Darius Delgado said.

"We are intent on staying on top through sharpening our differentiation from competition... With this kind of an approach, the customer always wins. And that's most important for us," he added.

Globe said that its RMS leadership validated a strategy of investing in superior data services and customized offerings that continue to enrich the customers' digital lifestyles.

Moving forward, the firm said that it was aiming to sustain its mobile market dominance by capitalizing on consistently rising demand for mobile data.
