Palace mourns death of SEC commissioner

MALACAÑANG expressed its condolences to the family of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Commissioner Hubert Dominic Guevara, who passed away on Friday at the age of 56.

It said Guevara will be remembered for his exemplary service to the Filipino people.

"Former SDES (senior deputy executive secretary) Guevara will be remembered for his spirit, dedication, and exemplary service to the Filipino people," Malacañang said in a statement.

Guevara previously occupied the post under the Office of the President.

"He will remain fondly in the memory of all who had the privilege of working with him and calling him a friend," it added.

Guevara served as director of the Compliance and Enforcement Department of the SEC in 2004.

Before entering public service, Guevara was the managing partner of the Joaquin Guevara Adarlo & Caoile Law Offices.

He also taught in private learning institutions.

Guevara earned his law degree from the Ateneo de Manila University.
