SM empowers young women with hygiene kit donations

By Manila Times - 8 months ago

FROM providing access to hygiene kits to eliminating societal taboos and misconceptions, the Philippines has been trying to break the silence surrounding women's health and hygiene.

Through the SM Store and SM Foundation, the SM Group continues to empower young women in partner communities by distributing hygiene kits and promoting education on women's health and wellness.

"This initiative is important because 500 female students will learn more about female hygiene and how to properly use these hygienic products. This can also help them feel more comfortable in the process of learning," principal Lilybeth Dasco says in Filipino.

Aside from distributing hygiene kits in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, the SM Group also donated to Jugan Elementary School in Consolacion, Cebu.

Through the successful run of the "Shop and share for women" campaign, hygiene kits, containing essential feminine products, will be distributed nationwide through partner organizations, including United Nations Women partner nongovernmental organizations, SM Foundation, and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines.
