THE National Housing Authority (NHA) has distributed some P9.1 million in financial assistance to around 1,837 families whose houses were destroyed by Super Typhoon "Odette" on Dec. 16, 2021 in Cebu province.
NHA General Manager Joeben Tai told The Manila Times on Wednesday, March 13, that he and Sen. Maria Imelda Josefa "Imee" Marcos handed over a total of P9,185,000 cash aid to the Cebuano families over the weekend in Mandani Bay, Mandaue City.
The NHA chief thanked Senator Marcos and the national government for their support, which was instrumental for the success of the housing assistance for the affected families.
The beneficiaries each received P5,000 under the agency's Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP) as aid in rebuilding their homes, the NHA said.
The typhoon victims were from Cebu's 22 villages, it added.
The NHA, through EHAP, extended its housing services to include provision of cash assistance to victims of calamities to aid them in purchasing necessary housing materials in rebuilding their homes.
Tai said that the NHA also responds to other disasters such as typhoons, earthquakes and floods.
